Compositrice et organiste québécoise, Laurence Jobidon a poursuivi ses études au Conservatoire de Musique de Québec jusqu’en 2011 et où elle a fait un passage remarqué, en remportant notamment la prestigieuse bourse des professeurs du Conservatoire remise à l’étudiant le plus prometteur des cycles supérieurs. Depuis 2014, elle se consacre de plus en plus à la composition, sous la tutelle du renommé compositeur canadien Andrew P. MacDonald. Laurence a composé pour une variété de formations musicales, de l’orgue solo à l’opéra en passant par diverses formations de musique de chambre. Finaliste du concours de composition Graham Sommer (2020), elle a remporté le concours de composition de l’Orchestre Nouvelle Génération pour sa pièce « Le Harfang et le Loup » (2015) et le Prix 3 Femmes – Mécénat Musica conjointement avec la dramaturge Pascale St-Onge pour leur opéra de chambre « L’hiver attend beaucoup de moi » (2018), lequel sera créé par l’Atelier Lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal à l’Espace Go en mars prochain. On a pu entendre sa musique notamment à la Société de musique contemporaine du Québec, dans les concerts-midi du Canadian Opera Company, à Tapestry Opera et à la 28e revue internationale des compositeurs. Elle collabore régulièrement avec des musiciens et ensembles québécois évoluant dans le milieu de la musique contemporaine, avec des performances récentes par Louis Brouillette (organiste), Raphaël Ashby (organiste), Maja Smilianic Radic (organiste, Serbie), Myriam Genest-Denis (flûtiste), Vivien Shotwell (mezzo-soprano Can/USA), Minji Kwon (piano USA) et l’Ensemble 3 Femmes (Suzanne Ridgen, soprano, Kristin Hoff mezzo-soprano, Jennifer Szeto, piano).

Classical composer and organist, Laurence Jobidon pursued her musical studies at the Quebec Conservatory of Music in piano, then in organ (under Danny Belisle). It is in this institution that she made her debut in composition (with Yannick Plamondon) and won the Conservatory Teachers Award, given to the most promising advanced student. Since 2014, Laurence has returned to composition, further training with renowned Canadian composer Andrew P. MacDonald. She has written pieces for a variety of musical ensembles, from solo to various chamber groups, orchestra and opera. Current finalist of the 2020 Graham Sommer Composition Competition, she also won the 2015 New Generation Orchestra competition for her piece "The White Owl and the Wolf" and the 2018 Prix 3 Femmes Mécénat Musica (with Pascale St-Onge, librettist) for her chamber opera “L’hiver attend beaucoup de moi”, which will see its full premiere as part of Opéra de Montréal 2019-2020 season. Her music has been performed notably at the SMCQ concert series, the COC noon concert series, at Tapestry Opera and at the 28th International Review of Composers. Laurence regularly collaborates with Canadian musicians and ensembles involved in contemporary music, with recent performances by Louis Brouillette (organ), Raphaël Ashby (organ), Maja Smilijanic Radic (organ, Serbia), Vivien Shotwell (mezzo, CAN/USA), Minji Kwon (piano, USA) and Ensemble 3 Femmes (Suzanne Rigden, soprano ; Kristin Hoff, mezzo and Jennifer Szeto, piano).
