Educated in Canada and the USA, Karen Rymal is well-known as an organ recitalist, accompanist, piano and voice teacher. She holds ARCT's in organ performance and piano teaching and has an Associate degree from the AGO (the American Guild of Organists). Karen is a long time contract faculty member of the Music Department at York University, where she is a course director, and a private instructor of voice, organ and piano. Education includes piano studies at Central Michigan U., French studies at U. of T. and McGill, and choral conducting at Eastman School of Music. Private studies include work with Douglas Bodle (organ), Greta Kraus (lieder and accompanying) and composition with Dr. Samuel Dolin. An organ/trumpet suite was written for her by Dr. Dolin under a government Council grant and was performed by Ms Rymal and trumpeter Stuart Laughton. A recording is in the CMC archives. Ms. Rymal is an associate composer of the Canadian Music Centre and has many choral, vocal and piano books published. Her works have also been published by Warner Chappell, and McGroarty Publishing. Her choral and piano works are performed regularly and her songs for solo voice have been recorded by Albert Greer and Deanna Hendriks. Memberships include: Association of Canadian Women Composers, American Guild of Organists, RCCO, National Association of Teachers of Singing and the Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association. Karen is currently the choir director, and organist at the Church of the Incarnation, in Toronto.
Scolarisée au Canada et aux États-Unis, Karen Rymal est bien connue comme organiste, accompagnatrice et professeur de piano et de chant.
