Une symphonie évoquant des saveurs de chocolats, une danse aérobique symphonique, un opéra cabaret basé sur des bandes dessinées, une histoire de pêche mimée par un clarinettiste costumé... Par l'originalité de ses concepts et par son langage musical communicatif, Maxime Goulet rejoint un public de tout horizon, allant du public jeunesse au mélomane averti. Sa musique est écrite dans un style tonal contemporain et a été décrite comme étant « habile, immédiatement plaisante et très cinématographique », « mélodique et narrative », « un mélange de simplicité, de modernité et d’humour », « une connexion immédiate avec le public ». Son disque Chocolats symphoniques a été décrit comme étant « une idée saugrenue qui rend la musique classique plus festive ».
Ses œuvres ont été jouées par des ensembles tel l’Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, l’Orchestre métropolitain, Angèle Dubeau & La Pietà, le Prague FILMharmonic Orchestra, l’Orchestre symphonique de Toronto, l’Orchestre symphonique de Vancouver, l’Orchestre philharmonique de Calgary, l’Orchestre symphonique d’Edmonton, l’Orchestre du Centre national des Arts, le Victoria Symphony et l’Orchestre symphonique de Lancaster. De plus, Maxime Goulet a été compositeur en résidence au National Academy Orchestra of Canada, dans le cadre du Brott Music Festival, ainsi qu'à l'Orchestre de chambre McGill.
Animé par un désire de rendre la musique plus interactive, Maxime Goulet a composé plus de 25 trame sonores de jeux vidéo dont Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade, Roller Coaster Tycoon World, The Amazing Spider-Man, Dungeon Hunter, Shrek Forever After, Brothers in arms, Iron Man 2 et Order and Chaos.
Maxime Goulet a obtenu une maîtrise en composition à l'Université de Montréal auprès d'Alan Belkin, et a participé au prestigieux ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop, à Los Angeles.

A symphony evoking different flavoured chocolates, a cabaret opera based on a comic book, symphonic aerobics, a fishing story mimed by a costumed clarinetist... With his communicative musical language and the originality of his concepts, Maxime Goulet connects with audiences from all kinds of backgrounds and experiences, from youth audiences to savvy music aficionados. His music is written in a contemporary tonal style and has been described as “skillful, immediately pleasant and very cinematographic”, “melodic and narrative”, “a mix of simplicity, of modernity and of humour”, and “an immediate connection with the audience”. His album Symphonic Chocolates has been described as “an off-the-wall idea that makes classical music more festive”.
His works has been performed by ensembles such as the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre métropolitain, Angèle Dubeau & La Pietà, the Prague FILMharmonic Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, The National Art Center Orchestra, the Victoria Symphony and the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra. He was Composer-in-Residence for the National Academy Orchestra of Canada, as part of the Brott Music Festival, and for the McGill Chamber Orchestra.
